David Williams wrote: Yes, it's proportional to the minumum and maximum values. The threshold is defined as halfway between the minimum and maximum values. The surface is generated where the values cross the threshold. Thats great =) No I didnt really find out why it took so long. I can imagine that it was because of the batvch of small volumes, as the wrapper 'should' have generated an own handler object pointing to the dll and reserve some RAM. So there is a little overhead when calling the wrapped stuf and because of the amount of calls there was ... well bigger overhead =) This is the only thing which can explain this as I dont really changed that much =) |

Sorry for double post, but wanne to give this a slight bump. We finished our project, thanks for all the help David. We released Source at codeplex ( http://painect.codeplex.com ) so if anyone is interested in Polyvox as a 3D drawing tool, with kinect as input device feel free to take a look. |

Sounds very cool, but unfortunatly I don't have a Kinect device. Do you have any screenshots of your project? I'd be interested to see them |

You can grab the source and switch to mouse and keyboard if you want But i will provide some screenshots here after i get back from work. Until then you can check out 2 old screenshots (i think they are from 0.4, current is 1.0) here: http://www.xnamag.de/userproject.php?id=221&d=1 |

I couldn't get it to run unfortunatly. When running both setup.exe and DKE_Kinect.application I get an error saying "...The application requires that assembly Microsoft.Research.Kinect Version 1.0.0.0 be installed in the Global Assembly Cache first..." Where do I get this, and can I get it without having a Kinect device? |

You will need the Kinect SDK from MS, its linked on the download page but here is the direkt link (This is just the driver, it will work without kinect, but you should try to stick to the code maybe, I´m at work atm. but i can try to hack a inputmanager together with allows you to control it with keyboard and mouse) Quote: EDIT: As well you might need Net Framework (3.5 probably even 4) if it still not starting grab yourself the XNA 4 redistributable.Ok another plan, maybe send me a mail at "floar [at} gmx {dot] de" just with a short reminder and i will provide another download with keyboard and mouse control this afternoon. I think you are not the only only one who will need this to test things out. It would be great if you can tell me what you needed to install so I can link all of this on the download page. (I am working on a full installer, which checks your system und downloads the stuff needed by itself) |

You can just switch it in the source code. I compiled an extra version for you with keyboard and mouse support enabled. NOTE: This ist not the way the program is ment to be used. Mouse control still sucks and need a lot of tweeking, so see this as an prototype =) controls: Mouse : move cursor Num Block: toggle swipe gesture (to control menu) O: toggle LeftArmOut (Menu) U: toggle LeftArmUp (change mode) [you need to do this at start to get to move mode and again to get to the draw mode] F: toggle LeftArmForeward (open quick menu) this should allow you to control everthing again pls note that this is a prototype! http://painect.codeplex.com/releases/73138/download/283577 Have fun! floAr |

It does run now, but unfortunatly I'm not able to interact with it via the mouse. I can press 'O' to bring up the main menu and 'F' to bring up a circular menu with icons on it, but I'm not able to click on any of the menu items. Of course, I do realise it will work a lot better with a kinect device |

mouse cant interact with menu, use the numblock and the swipes (with kinect this means swiping your hand into the direction you want to navigate) and the O to confirm. to draw you need to be in the draw modus (press u 2 times there should be brush in the upper left corner) and then you need to press + or - 1 time (this navigates the z-Axis, as mouse give you just x and y. after making 1 Move at the z Axis moving the mouse around should paint |
