The Cubiquity voxel cave / tunnel maker plugin for Unity works well, but I made my cavern and tunnel terrain with cubiquity's special terrain object. In the editor the scene works fine, but when I build the game. The cubiquity terrain is not there. I put a normal terrain under the cubiquity terrain, and the player spawned and fell and stood on the regular terrain. No sign of my cavern/tunnel terrain, invisible.

If anyone knows how to get my cubiquity terrain working in a Unity game build please let me know. Thank you in advance.

Hi, thanks for your interest! There are various reasons why this can occur. Some things to consider:

  • Do the Cubiquity examples work if you build/run them in stand alone mode?
  • Are you running the standalone build on the same PC as the Unity editor?
  • Try making sure the editor is not running at the same time.
  • Does the CubiquityC.dll get copied next to the standalone build when you run it? I think it should appear next to the standalone executable (it gets extracted from the packaged Unity data the first time the standalone build is run.)
  • Can you paste the Unity log file from the Unity stand alone build, and also Cubiquity.log if there is one?
  • What platform are you building on and targeting?

thank you. It works in standalone mode, it does not work in Web player mode. I need it to work in web player mode because I am going to serve the game from my google drive account. I don't know what else to do. I am running Windows 8 , internet explorer, using Unity 5.2 pro, with the latest version of cubiquity. When I run it in Web player build, the cubiquity scene loads, but there is no terrain, and I am just floating where the spawn point is, able to turn directions. That is all. Please if you have any other advice , it would be great. Thank you.

Also, when trying web player mode, I shut down unity just in case. I targeted x64 for the web player and standalone

I'm sorry to tell you that it is not possible to use Cubiquity in the webplayer. Cubiquity is a native-code solution (using compiled C++ code in a .dll) that cannot be executed by a web browser. There is no practical way around this at the moment. Only desktop platforms (Windows, Linux, OS X) are currently supported.

Also think twice do you really want the WebPlayer. Better, really, and my best advice:
Target Steam!

It is the real marketplace for gamers! :)

This post was never endorsed by Valve :D

If you want to target Steam then yes, it's just a normal standalone build. The real challenge with Steam is that you have to get through their Greenlight process to be accepted onto the store.

The developer tax in $90 or something like this, and they will like you more if you already use Steam for games. Check this:

However, note that this is committing you good and they expect good quality game :)

There are so much Voxel games today, so being someone means a lot of work, motivation and commitment.

Best of the way, instead of everybody maintaining its own Minecraft, we to team up and make one but good game as an indie company.

Steam are extremely very friendly to indies bTW :)
