Hi,
I just need to know if I can simply delete a new'd volume or whether there's a member function that should be called first.
I know I'm asking a lot of questions but I prefer it to trial and error

Yes, this is fine. The destructor of the volume should automatically handle any clean up operations. If it doesn't then we probably need to fix it
